March 2005 President's Letter

Letter from the President

OFF TO A GREAT START!

Already this year the board is taking positive steps forward to better serve you, our members, and reach out to the Central Virginia community. Please review the activities below. Visit the website or contact any board member for more details on any of the events.

Chapter Outreach Program

PMI CVC is partnering with the PMI Washington, DC chapter to support an outreach program (see news release). The effort will result in monthly meetings to serve our members North of Richmond. There is interest in getting groups to meet on a regular basis in the Innsbrook area and Charlottesville in a the group forming in Stafford. This is a great opportunity to meet in smaller groups, obtain some leadership experience, and earn PDUs through leadership or attendance. If you are interested in getting other meetings organized, please contact me. The chapter is here to support you.

Partnering In Engineering Week

PMI CVC has established a cooperative relationship with the Richmond Joint Engineering Council. As a partner, PMI CVC is supporting the Engineering Week activities. PMI CVC will have an information table at the Engineering Career Day to be held in the Science Museum of Virginia on February 27th. We will be introducing Project Management to Middle School and High School students interested in the Engineering Profession. If you are an engineer and would like to spend one to four hours talking with young folks on project management and engineering, please contact me. You can earn Community Service PDUs (CAT-5) for your participation.

Partnership with the Greater Richmond Technology Council

PMI CVC has joined the Greater Richmond Technology Council. This provides all our members with the opportunity to attend the Breakfasts, Luncheons, and the Annual Gala in May, at the GRTC member rate. The GRTC has very interesting speakers and provides another networking opportunity for our PMI CVC members. Visit the www.richtech.com for more details or contact me at President@pmicvc.org or 804.241.2591.

1st Annual Golf Tournament

PMI CVC believes networking is an essential part of the overall benefit as a PMI CVC member. This April, PMI CVC is providing our 1st Annual Golf Tournament. In addition to the golfing, there will be other activities including great food, drinks, and an opportunity to meet with other members in the area in a relaxed environment. Your participation and feedback on this event will determine future similar events.

If you have ideas on how PMI CVC can provide value to you or other professional organizations in the Central Virginia area, please drop me an email (President@pmicvc.org) or give me a call (804.241.2591). I will be happy to talk with you or meet with you to ensure you get the most from PMI CVC!

Respectfully,

Robert T. Berlin, MBA, PMP
