January 2007 - Letter from the President |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Welcome to 2007! The PMI CVC Board is excited about the plans we have for the chapter this year. We recognize that as our membership grows, so does the need for additional member services. In early December, outgoing and incoming PMI CVC Board members attended our annual transition and planning session. We reviewed the strategic plan we developed earlier in 2006, the chapter's objectives, and proposed plans and budgets associated with each area during this all-day event. The meeting was very effective in orienting new board members, and planning our 2007 events. Having accomplished a successful transition, our 2007 PMI CVC Board is already working together to execute 2007 events. We have established broad goals for 2007: a) to increase participation of our members, and b) increase volunteer opportunities and participation. To increase participation we are reviewing the results of our fall survey to determine what services are important for our members. It takes time, energy and resources to increase services. To do this will require additional volunteers. We are looking at innovative ways to engage our members to volunteer that will allow members to realize PDUs to maintain their PMP status. Our January meeting each year is PMI CVC's time to recognize all of our volunteers for their wonderful support each year. We have had some great successes to commemorate this past year. We held our 1000 member celebration early in the year. We have established both a Southside and a West End chapter meeting location. The chapter members voted electronically for the first time in PMI CVC history. And, we've held some very successful workshops and seminars, providing PDUs for PMPs and guidance for chapter members pursuing certification. The 2007 PMI CVC Board is already working together to execute on our objectives for the year. We move forward into the New Year with the following plans to serve our members' professional interests in support of the chapter vision and mission. 2007 Membership Events
Our Board also has committed to the following to ensure we can continue to provide valued services to you. 2007 Board Events
Please welcome the 2007 PMI CVC Board of Directors. As chapter members, you are our customer. We will strive to meet your project management needs by providing services in keeping with our chapter mission. Please contact any of us if you want to volunteer to help us, or have an issue or concern.
We have a talented and committed Board of Directors. Through the contributions of the chapter officers, committee members and other volunteers, I'm certain it is going to be an outstanding and extraordinary year. I'm excited about our chapter's future and the opportunities we have to have a great chapter for our members and the Central Virginia area. I look forward to serving you this year, with this capable group of leaders at my side. Best wishes for a wonderfully happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Best regards, Sharon Robbins, PMP |
