President's Letter

January 2007 - Letter from the President

Letter from the President

Welcome to 2007! The PMI CVC Board is excited about the plans we have for the chapter this year. We recognize that as our membership grows, so does the need for additional member services.

In early December, outgoing and incoming PMI CVC Board members attended our annual transition and planning session. We reviewed the strategic plan we developed earlier in 2006, the chapter's objectives, and proposed plans and budgets associated with each area during this all-day event. The meeting was very effective in orienting new board members, and planning our 2007 events. Having accomplished a successful transition, our 2007 PMI CVC Board is already working together to execute 2007 events.

We have established broad goals for 2007: a) to increase participation of our members, and b) increase volunteer opportunities and participation. To increase participation we are reviewing the results of our fall survey to determine what services are important for our members. It takes time, energy and resources to increase services. To do this will require additional volunteers. We are looking at innovative ways to engage our members to volunteer that will allow members to realize PDUs to maintain their PMP status.

Our January meeting each year is PMI CVC's time to recognize all of our volunteers for their wonderful support each year. We have had some great successes to commemorate this past year. We held our 1000 member celebration early in the year. We have established both a Southside and a West End chapter meeting location. The chapter members voted electronically for the first time in PMI CVC history. And, we've held some very successful workshops and seminars, providing PDUs for PMPs and guidance for chapter members pursuing certification.

The 2007 PMI CVC Board is already working together to execute on our objectives for the year. We move forward into the New Year with the following plans to serve our members' professional interests in support of the chapter vision and mission.

2007 Membership Events

  • Sustain 2 meetings per month (18 dinner meetings total) with one meeting to be held in the West End and one meeting to be held on the Southside monthly.
