July 2007 - Letter from the President |
|
| Summer is here, and everyone is starting to get busy with vacations and other fun activities. Your Board is not taking the summer off – we are busy at work. I am excited about all the progress that is being made in the chapter and hopefully you will be too! Board Elections June marks the halfway point of the year, and it’s already time to begin planning for the formation, development, and transition of our 2008 Board of Directors. It might seem early, but fall and elections will be upon us sooner than one would think. You will soon start to see and hear of these planning activities. As Past President, Jim Hayden will head up the 2007 Nominations Committee. The Nominations Committee is charged with the responsibility of identifying suitable candidates and administering the elections process. There are 5 positions for which our membership will be electing officers in October – President Elect (2008), VP Certification (2008-2009), VP Marketing (2008-2009), VP Programs (2008-2009) and VP Volunteerism (2008-2009). This is an exciting organization to be a part of! If you are considering stepping into a Board position send me an email to president@pmicvc.org or call 804-662-2792 and we can discuss the positions and commitments so you can decide if it is right for you. Programs May 2007 was our 1st year anniversary of our West End meeting. As you recall, last year we completed a “pilot” to see if people would attend a meeting in the West End. The pilot was a resounding success – and we have established the West End meeting as a regular meeting event. This year, I’ve heard rave reviews about the West End programs – the speakers, the location, the meals! The folks that come to the events really enjoy them! The West End Committee has done a great job in setting us up for success with this meeting. Some of our original volunteers that got this venue “off the ground” need to move on. We have some wonderful opportunities to get involved and ensure this event is a continued success. Let Sally Deering (vp.programs@pmicvc.org) or Jennifer Perrin (vp.volunteerism@pmicvc.org) know if you are interested in helping out. PMO LIGThe PMO LIG is off and running! Take a look at the new tab on the PMI CVC website with information about the mission, vision, and objectives of this new local interest group. If you work in a PMO or have an interest in finding out more about PMOs, sign up for this local interest group on the PMI LIG webpage (www.pmicvc.org/PMOLIG.htm). This group is just starting – a fabulous time to get engaged! As you can see, great things are happening and it’s exciting to see our plans taking shape! We’ve a fantastic team of leaders. Come join them in making great and exciting things happen for our chapter! Best regards, Sharon Robbins, MBB, PMP
