Certification Workshop FAQs

Certification Workshop FAQs

Workshops are offered Spring and Fall each year

Currently PMP Test Preparation Workshops are scheduled for three consecutive Saturdays. Dates are posted in the Coming Events section of the website approximately two months before each workshop.

The course evaluations over the last several Workshops have prompted the Committee to address common misconceptions regarding the Workshop.

What the Workshop is and isn’t:

The PMP Certification Prep Workshop is not a class on project management theory. Nor is it a “boot camp” where upon completion a student can go right out and take the PMP Exam. The PMP Workshop will provide students a framework and guidance on how to conduct their studies to prepare for the Exam. When comparing all the opportunities and venues to prepare for the Exam, look at the value you get with the Workshop. Compare it to the cost of “boot camps” available.  And think about the fact that this workshop has won awards from PMI for excellence in PMP Test Preparation!

Who should consider attending the Workshop?

Anyone interested in preparing themselves to take either the PMP or CAPM certification exams.

Anyone who has their PMP and would like to earn 32 PDU’s at a very attractive cost!

Who are the instructors?

The instructors are volunteers - from PMI CVC in most cases. All are seasoned project managers and have obtained their PMP certifications. In all cases they are giving back to the profession and to the Chapter membership. As volunteers and project managers, it’s important to realize that they are not entertainers nor are they trained public speakers in all cases. They are dedicated professionals working in our profession sharing their time, experience, and knowledge. And in order to be an instructor in the CVC workshops, they must participate in an audition to earn the privilege of teaching in a CVC PMP Test Preparation Workshop!

Where is the Workshop held?

Venues may change depending on feedback from workshop participants as well as costs incurred at the venue. The announcement of each workshop will provide the information about the location.
