Volunteers Needed

The PMI CVC Board makes plans each year to serve the interests of chapter members through the services they can offer.

Here are the current volunteer opportunities:

  • Liaison Support - PMI Education Foundation
    • Backup as requested in attending PMIEF trainings, updates, and receptions – virtually (likely quarterly)
    • Become knowledgeable about PMIEF programs and products.
    • Subscribe to and remain up-to-date with PMIEF e-newsletter.
    • Support on-going education to your PMI community board and members about PMIEF.
    • Assist with communications to your PMI community members the PMIEF resources they can utilize (PMIEF newsletter, scholarships, awards, resources, etc.)
    • Assist with facilitating the sharing of ideas specific to philanthropic activities and creation of new programs from your PMI community to PMIEF.
    • Suggest new charitable programs and products for PMIEF consideration.
    • Become knowledgeable about the ethics and conduct of public charities
  • E-Mail Coordinator– Communications Committee
    • Work with assigned Vice President to prepare e-mails.
    • Obtain approval of responsible VP of email.
    • Obtain approval of VP Communications for non-standard e-mail.
    • Schedule email to be distributed.
    • Able to use an HTML editor; basic computer skills; knowledge of Linux is desirable.
  • Sponsor Communications Coordinator– Communications Committee
    • Work with Vice President of Marketing to update sponsor logos and ads on the website.
    • Coordinate with Newsletter Editor, Email Coordinator, and Event Coordinator.
    • Basic computer skills; ability to use a HTML editor.
  • Admin Support - Certification Committee
    • If you have great skills in PowerPoint, Word and Excel, we need your expertise in working with the materials for the PMP Exam Prep Workshop and in creating a master roster of all volunteers helping the Certification Committee.
  • Project Lead - Social Media Planning Committee
    • We are looking for a volunteer to lead this committee in defining the plan on how the chapter will use various social media, i.e. LinkedIn (which already has a PMI CVC group), Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, other. Subsequent committees will be put together to execute the plan.
  • Membership Corner Coordinators - Membership Committee
    • 2 positions available - 1 for the Southside meeting and 1 for the West End meeting
    • Assist in setting up the Membership Corner display table prior to the dinner meeting
    • Greet Members and guests (potential members) approaching the Membership Corner and answer questions about the Chapter and upcoming events and about Certification processes
    • Ensure that new members arriving with their new member email are given new member gifts
    • Assist in breaking down the display table after the meeting.
  • Mentorship Project Manager- Professional Development Committee
    • Create Mentor and Protégé Packets.
    • Conduct Mentorship Status Meeting.
    • Assist in selection/screening of Mentors and Protégés.
    • Communicate with Mentors and Protégés.
    • Manage Mentorship Budget.
    • Maintain/Track Mentorship Milestones.
    • Document Mentorship Lessons Learned/Best Practices.
  • 30-min Pre-Meeting Coordinator - Programs Committee
    • Coordinate topics and schedule presenters
    • Collect presentation slides and send to A/V Lead at least 2 days prior to mtg)
    • Coordinate set-up of A/V day of meeting with A/V Lead (room location if different from main meeting room)
  • Audio Visual Coordinator Backup - Programs Committee
    • Work with A/V Coordinator Lead to assist whenever the Lead cannot make a monthly meeting.
    • Manage the AV equipment (laptop, projector, & wireless lavaliere). Make sure they are in working order. Inform the VP of failures prior to monthly meeting. Stock batteries for devices.
    • Copy the chapter slides and speaker slides onto CVC laptop and start the slide show
    • Set up AV equipment on meeting night for both the pre-meeting and the keynote presentation
    • Show Chapter President and Speaker on how lavaliere device and remote slide changer works
    • Break down the equipment and store it between meetings
  • Site Lead Backup PMI-CVC Dinner Meetings - Programs Committee
    • Work with Site Lead to assist whenever the Lead cannot make a monthly meeting.
    • Deal with special needs for speakers and board members regarding the presentation day of meeting
    • Select tables for buffet line
    • Introduce speaker
    • Close the meeting and present Speaker with Gift Card
    • Troubleshoot issues that may arise at registration for the team and membership
    • Verify and Approve/Sign the banquet order after meeting
    • Backup for the VP.
  • Volunteerism Ambassadors at Dinner Meetings (2-3 people) – Volunteerism Committee
    • Print, make copies, and bring volunteer openings to monthly dinner meetings and distribute on each chair prior to meeting start. Serve as contact post-dinner if people have questions about volunteer openings.
  • Volunteerism Ambassadors at other PMI CVC Events (2-3 people) – Volunteerism Committee
    • Print, make copies, and bring volunteer openings to other PMI CVC events such as PMO LIG, Certification Workshops, Professional Development seminars, and provide brief announcement at start of each event. You won’t need to stay for the entire event unless you choose to also be an attendee.
