President's Letter - May 2011
May brings to mind mom and all she does for the family. In many ways a project manager is like a team mom who must deal with the day to day care and feeding of the project. Try to keep that thought in mind the next time you struggle with a project related issue. Think about what mom might do if a similar situation were put to her. Moms seem to manage, and so can we all.
To all of the mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day!
This year the chapter will be celebrating its 15 year anniversary. We have seen a lot of great changes over the years and it is all due to the wonderful volunteers who have offered the hours and hard work to help move the chapter forward. You have all heard it said before, but it bears repeating, the chapter is an all volunteer organization. That means that everyone holding a position on the board or working with a committee or LIG is a volunteer. A big “Thank You” goes out to all of you who volunteer.
You have seen by now that the election process for next year’s board of directors has already begun. If you might be interested in running for one of the open positions, please contact a board member to discuss your interest. Serving on the board can be a very rewarding experience. If you aren’t quite ready for the commitment of a board position but are interested in volunteering some time, please contact Sally Deering our VP of Volunteerism or any board member. There are opportunities that can fit into just about any level of time you may be willing to share.
Mark your calendars for October 13. That will be the date of the Anniversary Dinner. More information will be forth coming, but the basics are the October dinner meeting will be replaced with the anniversary dinner meeting. There is a great group of volunteers who are planning the event and I, for one, am looking forward to it.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the board if you have any questions or concerns about the chapter sponsored events, PMI, or other related topics.
Respectfully,
John…
